Want To Write And Self Publish FBI Books?

By Jaclyn Hurley

Are you one of the many people who are fascinated by crime stories? Do you read crime and mystery novels, or watch tv shows about unsolved mysteries and serial killers? Are you fascinated by the law enforcement techniques used to bring criminals to justice?

If you are one of these people, and you are also a writer, have you ever considered combining those two interests? Why not try writing crime novels or FBI books? One of the benefits of this type of writing is that there is a formula in place you can choose to follow. Your interest in the material will make it even easier to generate stories.

Coming up with an idea for a series can make it simpler to write a large number of books. Once you have established a couple of main characters (perhaps partners), you can write many novels around those same central figures. The cases they work on will change, but the basic setting and formula may stay the same. You can also get more deeply into the main characters' personalities with each book.

Another idea is to use real-life stories and adapt them to make them fictional. This technique is used constantly in Law & Order and all of its spinoff shows. Using a true story will give you a basic framework for the plot line of the case in your novel. Be sure to change around the details, however, because there are legal issues involved with using a real story if it is not altered enough to make it truly fictional.

Writing is only the first step in becoming an established author. The second step is publishing your work. With all of the changes in the publishing industry in the past several years, there are some new ways to go about this.

Traditionally, writers sent query letters to many different publishing companies and awaited responses. They were usually then asked for a sample chapter, and if that was well received, they might be signed on and given an advance. Writers also often worked with literary agents who helped them through this process. This traditional way of publishing is still in practice, but is less common than it once was.

Self-publishing in print is another option. There was a time when this was looked down upon as an easy route and a lesser form of publishing. However, that view has begun to change, and more and more people are bypassing publishing companies in favor of this option. There are companies designed to help people self-publish. These companies handle the print and design aspects, for a fee of course. However, if you have designing and printing knowledge and resources, you could always do that yourself.

Finally, you could self-publish digitally. In many instances, such as publishing to Amazon Kindle, this is completely free of charge. You simply upload your work, and charge a small fee for it. It can take awhile before the sales build up to any significant profit, but since you are not putting any money out in the first place, this can be worthwhile and lucrative.

Arguments Against Evolution That Make Sense

By Krystal Branch

Charles Darwin, who was the founder of the theory of evolution, spent his entire life trying to prove that world was able to reach the stage it is in today by means of evolving from the forefathers that existed years ago. Of course this goes against the belief that there is a creator present in all of this. However, there are a lot of valid arguments against evolution and for creation that scientists still cannot seem to refute as there is no supporting evidence.

Now one of the most common arguments against this theory is that it cannot be true because it is simply not happening in the present. Although many scientists would say that it happened thousands of years ago, they cannot seem to prove that it is happening again now. If one would think about it logically, if this kind of occurrence happened years ago, it should still be happening until now.

One of the things that the scientific community has tried to do was to attempt to create a brand new species of a fruit fly by using mutation. Of course many scientists have made new varieties of animals all over the world but there was no one who could really make a brand new species. Of course the creation of a new species cannot even be seen naturally.

Now another very hard thing to prove is that this type of occurrence even happened in the past. One of the things that evolutionists would use as a weapon to prove their beliefs is the transition of the fossils. By making use of fossils, they would aim to show that beings of the past did undergo certain changes in order to survive.

Another missing link that has yet to be discovered would be the one that would link the humans to the primates. Of course humans are believed to have evolved from the monkeys but underwent a rather slow process of evolving before they could become humans. What cannot be found is the being that existed in between the evolving of a monkey to a human.

Now with regard to origin, the evolution theory cannot seem to prove where everything has actually come from. Now by using common sense, one will actually know that everything has an origin and that there is absolutely nothing that can just pop out of nowhere. It is for this reason that the theory of creationism may actually make more sense than the theory of Darwin.

The take of the evolutionists with regard to this is that everything came from the big bang which is what the Big Bang Theory states. The earth was said to come into place because there was a giant explosion that occurred in outer space. However, no one can actually prove where this big explosion actually came from.

As one can see, the theory of evolution has so many missing parts which cannot be proven up until today. That is why arguments against evolution are ever present. A lot of things in the world cannot be proven by the theory simply because it can never explain the origin of everything.

Understanding The Current US Foreign Policy In The Middle East

By Krystal Branch

The current US foreign policy in the Middle East has come under intense scrutiny especially due to shifting world concerns. The approach has been informed by politics of each generation or season which has prompted successive governments to respond differently. It is worth noting that before the world war, this region was of greater interest to Europe since the defeat of Ottoman rule.

The image of America, especially before world wars, was an untainted, respectful and non-partisan friend. They were credited for developing the best oil engineers, work force, medicine and the best education institutions. Compared to the Americans, the Europeans passed as selfish and unreliable because of their duplicity. Natural resources, and especially oil, have made the region strategically important to world powers. The deposits can easily determine global crude oil prices.

The economy of America delicately requires oil and thus is always interested in such regions for personal security. This has made it necessary to have such allies as Jordan, Israel, Afghanistan, Morocco, Turkey, Egypt and Kuwait. Other allies of America include Qatar, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Some of these countries are closely tied to NATO which strains their relationship with America.

Some ways used by America to maintain influence are hosting large military bases and weapon hauls, provision of military support during wars and humanitarian or economic aid. The increasing importance of nuclear weapons has also influenced the issues for this key region. Iraq was invaded by Bush administration with the aim of installing a friendly government. This has defined relationships with other countries considering the oil reserves and how strategic the country was.

With the current conflict in Syria, there is a call for proactive approach in this region. The reentry of Russia into world politics has caused jitters in most regions and diluted American influence. There is evidence that America is loosing grip of the region especially after it failed to take a decisive action against Assad. Continued war has divided Arab states and made the intervention by America unwelcome.

Arab states are divided by the debate on nuclear technology as different countries in this area show their interest in developing such systems. Iraq signed a deal with America that has brought tension between states who consider the government as unstable. The never ending conflict between Palestine and Israel is a major test and determines relationships between any nation and the region.

Influence from other powers including Asia and Russia has caused jitters in Washington. The most recent is the Syrian crisis that is dragging way too much. America is also blamed for removal of Mubarak in Egypt despite his being pro-West for thirty years. There is a call for long term policy directions instead of the reactionary way that is influenced by the policies of the day.

The current US foreign policy in the Middle East is facing a test from Iran. She has shown persistent interest in nuclear weapons and is blamed for supporting terrorism. Bahrain has openly shown displeasure with these developments. America is finding it difficult to hold on to old allies in the wake of changing global interests.

Bill De Blasio's Inaugural Chair, Gabrielle Fialkoff

By Hal Winters

When you think of Bill de Blasio and his industry of focus, the political world is obviously the first thing that comes to mind. Get this though - NYC's mayor also has firm ties to Gabrielle Fialkoff, a powerful jewelry magnate.

Due to this friendship, de Blasio trusted her to plan his entire inaugural event as he swore under oath to serve his city with the best of intentions. More information recently revealed about the event and its plans was provided in an interview.

The primary aim of the event was to bring de Blasio's campaign theme into the mix. The Democrat ran on the premise that he represented the masses and not just the rich. In this vein, the inauguration reflected the same values.

The event itself took place on January 1st, 2014. Tickets were available to all New Yorkers, a unique offering that hadn't been done in many years. All of this took place on the steps of City Hall.

On January 5th, the festivities continued. Fialkoff planned an open house celebration at Gracie Mansion. While the traditional mayoral home had been passed up by former Mayor Bloomberg, de Blasio has chosen to live there and invited 7,000 New Yorkers into his home. The event sold out in just three hours.

You may be wondering why someone in fashion was given a political task. Gabrielle Fialkoff has a background in politics though. Having worked on three political campaigns with Mr. de Blasio dating back to 2001, she's been in the game for a while.

Fialkoff hasn't only worked with de Blasio though. She's also participated in campaign efforts for Hillary Clinton and other well known political figures. Eventually she made the move from politics to Haskell Jewels.

This was a great experience for Haskell's President and COO, as she had the opportunity to help a longtime friend plan a big event portraying a vision that she genuinely believes in.

If the media's coverage of the event was any indication of public sentiment, she did a terrific job all around.

The Holy Of The Holies On The Canadian Prairies

By Muhammad U Muzaffa

One of the greatest monuments completed in 1920 was the Manitoba Legislative Building, a remarkable structure with primeval temple designs from the New Eastern World. The building has been designed by Frank Worthington Simon (1863-1933), a man with an in-depth knowledge of architecture as well as aspirations from the philosophical doctrines of Freemasonry. The building was then used as one of the best sites for legislative assembly for committees, staffs, offices of the ministers and other government bodies. However, what is the real purpose why Legislative Manitoba was created?

The Manitoba Legislative Building is one of the most popular tourist spots and place for assembly meeting because of its amazing features, including the sanctity of each statue and murals. As a fact, the MLB is operating every day of the year and in weekends for self-guide tours or assisted tours. There are available personnel to accompany each visitor and take them to the significant places of the building such as the Pool of the Black Star, Holy Rooms, Legislative Chamber, Grand Staircase, Rotunda and Lieutenant - Governor's Reception Room. In each section, visitors will see some murals and figures that represent ancient civilizations and prominent people during those eras. During the tour - guides will point out both the sculptures and paintings honoring the famous people who both graced and genuinely influenced the foundation & beginnings of the great Province of Manitoba .

The history of the Manitoba Legislative Building has been started in 1911. It was a period wherein the Manitoba Government publicized an architectural competition to all designers/architects, and a grand prize of $10,000 was offered for the best designs of the sacred building. Among 67 designs, one former student at the Ecole des Beaux- Arts, Frank Worthington Simon won because of his best designs and impressive sketch. The building construction began in 1913, but the progress has been interrupted because one contractor stolen some materials to build his own house. However, on July 15, 1920, Sir James Aikins and the Lieutenant-Governor of the Manitoba performed the 50th province's anniversary date and celebrations.

Aside from Christians, Egyptian views are all included to make the building as a sacred place. Two great sphinxes are placed on the roof of the central tower, one of which faces the rising sun while the other positions to follow the setting sun. Both sphinxes have some inscriptions that translate the name of Thutmosis III. In the same area, hieroglyphic references are also included to represent the name of the Sun God Re, an ancient deity who gives everlasting life. These inscriptions were expected on ancient tombs and walls, but not hidden on the MLB roof.

The Pool of the Black Star is actually a symbol of Babylonian Goddess Ishtar next to the statue of Hermes. It has an eight pointed star in the center of the lower ground underneath the altar with a radius of 8.2 m (27 feet). One unique thing concerning this area is the amazing design of the wall that allows any sound from the building to be heard and caught. So visitors should observe the words to say if they do not want to be the center of attraction. Aside from this, the Lieutenant - Governor's Reception Room, the Legislative Chamber, the Grand Staircase and exterior designs are all created with a purpose - to represent the beauty of the ancient civilization as well as the to recognize the general figures, to inform the people about spirituality and prosperity by providing them some of the symbols and murals and to give a memorable tour to visitors and travelers.

Useful Thoughts On Democracy As A Concept

By Jerri Perry

Scholars have different thoughts on democracy. What they can all agree on is that democracy is a form of government with four main aspects. The major facets of this concept include active participation, the rule of law, free and fair elections as well as safeguarding human rights.

The rule allows people to select leaders of their liking. Nationals choose who to represent them in parliament. They also decide on who will lead the government. Citizens make these two important decisions by choosing from among contending parties. This is done in an open and just election system. Those in government are held accountable to the electorates.

Such a system holds the citizens sovereign. This simply means that they are the topmost form of political power. Authority flows from the people to those in office. Leaders stay in office for a limited time as provided for in the constitution of a given country. Before laws and policies are made, they must be supported by the majority in parliament. However, the interests of the minorities are still protected.

The main role of citizens in the system is active participation in public life. They are obligated to acquaint themselves on civic issues. It is their duty to carefully scrutinize how their representatives utilize authority. The people must always express their beliefs and interests. An important form of participation is manifested through dynamic membership in autonomous non governmental organizations commonly referred to as civil society.

Women ought to be involved in public issues too. For a while, they have somewhat been a minority group. They non governmental associations ought to raise awareness to the women concerning their rights and responsibilities. By so doing, ladies will feel like they are needed in both political and civil elements of their country. Similar to the male members of the society, they ought to be engaged in development schemes.

Involvement in the general public should not be something forced. Similarly, membership to political parties ought to be voluntary. A person should not feel forced to be registered in an association he does not want in a democratic country. Still, no one should interfere with beliefs of others even when he does not share their beliefs. Democratic nations respect the diversity of every individual.

A country which upholds social equality ought to respect the rights and freedoms of its inhabitants. These rights are safeguarded under international law. Everyone has a right to have his own beliefs and to express himself. Religion is also an important aspect. Each person is free to practice his own religion as he deems fit. Additionally, one is free to associate with others at whichever level he pleases.

Justice is served by experienced, unbiased and autonomous individuals as provided for in the rule of law. These individuals must be in adequate numbers, have sufficient resources and be a sign of the make up of the community they serve. The rules and regulations in the country must be passed in a transparent and skillful way. In general, the various thoughts on democracy culminate to an important idea which is decree exclusively meant for the countrymen.

No Non-Partisan Political Information Exists In The Dominant Media

By Serena Price

It is extremely hard to find non-partisan political information because it is not the coin of the realm, so to speak. Politicians who want certain things to happen know that if they present this information, or facts, to a candid public, they could be foiled in their efforts. Those would be efforts to bring about something voters do not want. This is the case in many of the laws enacted against the will of the people.

The media does not look for this type of information as it does fit in their template for their world view. All of the facts interfere with their partners in political circles, so those must be left out of news coverage. The fourth estate has decided their allegiance does not reside in the people but in the masterminds they have helped create.

Even on the Internet, there is trouble finding this type of factual information. Some websites or blogs will suggest they offer balanced coverage. They will often be fairly straight forward, however, the larger portion of them have some ax to grind as far as which side they are rooting for. There are a few tests that can be conducted to determine the objectivity or truthfulness of these and other sources of data.

An easy test to conduct for the purpose of finding the elusive non partisan information would be to check on the emotional tugs it contains. The harsh rhetoric is also a clear indication this piece is not presenting facts. The effort, in the piece, to get the reader to allow something to be done, right now, is also a danger sign that you are not getting the information to make a rational, well considered decision.

Partisan talking points, about the gun control issue, will tell us that there are too many guns in the hands of people. They will not tell us that our second amendment rights are in the US Constitution. They will tell us that a law abiding citizen with a gun is just one more gun on the street. The emotional pull is for everyone to believe that a law abiding gun owner can become a criminal quite easily. That is why they want to do something, right now.

The facts that are rarely, if ever, published tend to show the difference between law abiding gun owners and what happens in the many shootings the media report on. Gun restriction laws do not curb crime as the harshest laws are in cities with the highest crime rates. Mental health issues are only marginally mentioned and nothing is proposed in the legislative items that purport to be fixes for this touchy problem.

All of the facts that can help people form the opinions that are needed to see that cooler heads prevail is not made available to them easily. The emotional pulling of the heart strings, it seems, is more important than doing the informed thing. Most of the politicos appreciate everything being done to keep the facts away from people who would otherwise not vote for them if they knew the truth.

Many people would believe that the facts and non-partisan political information will come out in the political debates. They would be mislead about this as the media has their people installed as the moderators in most of these debates and coverage is one sided, as well. The participants, on both sides, will be paired off with one side and their emotion driven appeals for things people do not want against another side that might argue with them but not much.
